The crowd-sourced gas price compiler said the sudden surge can be blamed on oil prices surging to nearly $67 per barrel, the highest level since 2014, on fears of military action in Syria and trade conflict with China.
NAYTAHWAUSH, Minn. — An 18-year-old man wanted in connection with a Minneapolis homicide was arrested in this northwest Minnesota county on Wednesday, April 11, on a felony warrant. The Mahnomen County Sheriff's Office reported Juan Vasquez Jr., no listed address, was arrested early Wednesday morning at a house in Naytahwaush about 20 miles east of Mahnomen.
BISMARCK—President Donald Trump has signed into law legislation backed by North Dakota Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp aimed at cracking down on websites that facilitate sex trafficking. Heitkamp and Republican Sen. John Hoeven announced the president's approval of the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act on Wednesday, April 11. Heitkamp was a lead sponsor of the bill and said websites like Backpage.com "will now face punishment for their disgusting role in facilitating this vile trade."
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. – Two people have been arrested and charged with Third Degree Murder in connection with the death of a 6-year-old boy here, and his sibling has been taken into protective custody. Bobbie Christine Bishop, 40, and Walter Henry Wynhoff, 44, both of Fergus Falls, were being held Tuesday, April 10, in Otter Tail County Jail and both are charged with Third Degree Murder.
DULUTH, Minn. -- A 20-year-old snowboarder who died Sunday as a result of injuries suffered in an accident at Spirit Mountain has been identified. Derek Harms, a student at Winona State University originally from Barrington, Ill., died Sunday afternoon, April 8, after an accident on the ski area's Big Air Terrain Park. The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office Tuesday said Harms "died as a result of multiple blunt force injuries due to a snowboarding accident."
HEWITT, Minn. – An 85-year-old central Minnesota man was trampled to death by one of his cows as he was trying to tag a calf Sunday morning, April 8, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched at 10:32 a.m. to 26998 County Highway 75 on the east edge of Otter Tail County after a report that Delbert Horn, of rural Hewitt, had been trampled by a cow.
FARGO — Dennis Millirons, who served as president of Sanford Medical Center in Fargo for four years, has died at age 66 in Texas. Millirons, who had more than 40 years of experience in hospital administration, was named president of Sanford Medical Center when Fargo-based MeritCare merged with Sanford Health, based in Sioux Falls, S.D., in November 2009.

WILLMAR, Minn. — A Willmar man was injured Wednesday afternoon when the pickup he was driving left the road and crashed into a row of farm equipment that was lined up in front of a Willmar business. The accident was reported at 5:03 p.m. on U.S. Highway 12 and Industrial Drive. According to the State Patrol, Derek Scott Heike, 27, was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram east on Highway 12 when he lost control of the vehicle on a curve and the truck went off the road and struck machinery at Farm-Rite Equipment.
CLOQUET, Minn. -- A 23-year-old man died in an early morning fire in Cloquet over the weekend.. The Cloquet Police Department identified Preston Jerald Alaspa of Cloquet as the victim in a fire on the Fond du Lac Reservation.
