GYNDON, Minn. – A Glyndon police officer working a traffic safety enforcement overtime shift early Friday morning pulled over a man driving a van that allegedly had a safe stuffed with 88 pounds of marijuana. “This is not ditch weed; this is really good nug,” Glyndon Police Chief Mike Cline said at a news conference Friday as he stood in front of a table piled high with the marijuana, vacuum-sealed into 1- to 1¼-pound packages. “When they opened the door – it was on its side – it literally started falling out of the safe.”
NEW RICHMOND, Wis. -- A 30-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl were found dead inside a New Richmond home just after noon Wednesday; authorities announced this morning that a suspect tracked down in Texas has been arrested and is now in custody. New Richmond Police Lieutenant Jerry Cody said Thursday morning the bodies were found at 1400 Hallewood Boulevard after the New Richmond Fire Department was called to the house for what appeared to be a smoke alarm.
POLK COUNTY -- A Norman County deputy sheriff sustained non-life-threatening injuries early this morning when his vehicle collided with a deer in Polk County. David Olson, 35, Ada, Minn., was driving a 2012 Ford Explorer southbound on Minn. Highway 9 north of Beltrami, Minn., at about 12:27 a.m. Wednesday when a deer jumped onto the roadway, according to a report from Minnesota State Patrol. Olson was transported to Essentia Health in Ada for treatment of injuries.

EVELETH, Minn. -- A body was found Tuesday in the wreckage of a home that exploded early Monday along U.S. Highway 53 south of Eveleth, authorities said. Initial reports were that the home was unoccupied at the time of the explosion and that no one had been injured.

EVELETH, Minn. -- A house exploded early Monday along U.S. Highway 53 near Eveleth, but authorities said the home was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported. The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said the incident, in the 3300 block of U.S. Highway 53 in the Central Lakes area, was reported just after 1 a.m. when a motorist reported debris in the roadway. The first officials on the scene discovered that the debris was from a house that had exploded.
ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a crash that killed one early Monday morning. The patrol reports Charles L. Wall, 89, of Pequot Lakes, Minn., was crossing U.S. Highway 10 in southeast St. Cloud near the Minnesota Highway Safety and Research Center when his Ford Taurus was hit by a Cadillac sedan driven by Lynn M. Kaarto, 55, of Bloomington, Minn.
GARRISON, Minn. -- The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office is investigating a death after it received a report of man lying alongside a road in Garrison Sunday. Shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, emergency personnel responded to a call reporting a man possibly in need of medical care. The man was lying on the shoulder of County Road 26 near Rolling Hills Resort Road west of Lake Mille Lacs. Rescue efforts were attempted, although it was determined the man was deceased.
