VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. -- A Blaine woman who died after driving in the wrong lane on Interstate 694 in Vadnais Heights has been identified as Samantha Pereira, 46. The accident happened about 6:30 p.m. Thursday night on I-694 at Labore Road, according to the State Patrol. A Mitsubishi Outlander was heading west in the eastbound lanes when it sideswiped a Chrysler minivan. The Mitsubishi then struck a wooden guardrail and went off the road.

CHASKA, Minn. -- Two men now face first-degree murder charges in the death of a 90-year-old man from rural Carver County. Reinol Godines Vergara, 35, and Edson Celin-Dominguez Benitez, 30, were indicted by a Carver County grand jury Wednesday in the death of Earl Olander of San Francisco Township. Olander was found beaten to death in his ransacked home in April.
FORT TOTTEN, N.D. — Law enforcement officers have made 22 arrests in a large-scale warrant operation on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation and in the Devils Lake area after the tribal council has expressed worry about a drug epidemic. During Operation No Sanctuary, the U.S. Marshals Service's High Plains Fugitive Task Force and Bureau of Indian Affairs cleared 29 warrants searching for fugitives who were wanted on federal, state, local and tribal charges, according to a news release issued Wednesday. TOFTE, Minn. -- One person is dead and another is in custody after a shooting in the North Shore community of Tofte early Wednesday. The Cook County Sheriff's Office said there is no threat to public safety, but did not immediately release any other details. The sheriff's office said it is investigating the shooting with the assistance of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Tofte is about 80 miles northeast of Duluth.
MOORHEAD, Minn. – A former Moorhead High School hockey standout and junior league hockey draftee pleaded guilty Monday in Cass County District Court to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. Jacob Dittmer, who was 18 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to one count of felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
MERRIFIELD, Minn. -- A 49-year-old Minnesota man has died after a snowmobile crash Friday in Merrifield, the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office reported. The sheriff's office reported Richard Rathman of Merrifield was riding a snowmobile on his property on Half Moon Drive about 1:30 p.m. Friday when he lost control and hit a tree. Rathman was not wearing a helmet. He was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale where he later died, the sheriff's office said.
MINNEAPOLIS -- A 40-year-old Zimmerman man who was using so much computer power that he and his parents were using the heat from the computers to warm their home in one of the coldest winters in recent Minnesota history has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for distribution and possession of child pornography.
