MOORHEAD – Moorhead Mayor Del Rae Williams has been hospitalized in intensive care due to kidney stones, according to a post on her Facebook page on Friday, Jan. 20. “I (am) still in Intensive Care but hope to move into a regular room today. I really need a shower,” Williams posted on her page, adding “#KidneysWhoKnew.”
OTSEGO, Minn. -- Three students were injured when a pickup driver passed through a school bus stop sign Thursday morning, Jan. 19, and struck them in this north Twin Cities metro community, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office said. Around 6:50 a.m., law enforcement and medical personnel responded to calls that several pedestrians were hit as they were about to load an Elk River School District bus.
The outlook is good for a Garfield snowmobile enthusiast who was involved in a severe crash on Sunday, Jan. 15. According to family members, Brad Klinkner was taken out of sedation and was alert and talking as of Jan. 18.
HIBBING — A Grand Rapids man has been charged with fatally stabbing a 52-year-old Hibbing man inside his residence. A criminal complaint filed in State District Court identifies the victim of the Tuesday homicide as Joel Dean Gangness.
HIBBING, Minn. -- A Grand Rapids man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with the death of a man found dead in a Hibbing apartment. Benjamin David Lundquist, 32, was arrested on a preliminary charge of second-degree intentional homicide about 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Lundquist is being held at the St. Louis County Jail in Hibbing.
The Duluth teenager injured in an ATV crash north of the city Monday remained in critical condition in a Duluth hospital Wednesday. Logan Howard Rautio had been airlifted to Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth following the crash in Fredenberg Township. The hospital reported his updated condition Wednesday afternoon.
CROSSLAKE — A pregnant woman was injured Tuesday after she lost control of the Chevrolet Suburban she was driving, when she hit a patch of ice, causing the vehicle to go off the roadway, flipping over on its roof. The Crosslake Police Department reported Jennifer Sheets, 43, Deerwood, who is nine months pregnant, was driving west on Crow Wing County Road 11, a mile east of County Highway 3, near Crosslake in Mission Township when the crash occurred.
BACKUS—Cass County commissioners Tuesday approved reorganizing health and human services. The agency started as a separate health department and a separate human services department. After the two were combined under a single director, they have continued to operate under separate supervisors.
HIBBING, Minn. -- Two Hibbing police officers and the allegedly armed man they shot and wounded last week have been identified by authorities. Che Nathaniel Jones, 24, of Rochester remains hospitalized at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth after he was shot during an incident that began at 12:45 p.m. Friday in Hibbing, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension stated on Tuesday night.
