AITKIN -- A 25-year-old man died early Sunday after the truck he was driving went off the road, rolling several times. The crash was reported at 11:44 p.m. Saturday on Deer Street in Aitkin County.
WOLFORD, N.D.--A Saturday afternoon crash in Pierce County involving a horse-drawn wagon ended a Rugby, N.D., man's life, killed two horses and injured multiple passengers after they were thrown from the wagon.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation offered tips for those traveling on Highway 371 this weekend. The new four-lane expansion is well underway in Nisswa and Pequot Lakes. Here's what to expect: • If traveling to Breezy Point, be prepared to exit Highway 371 a bit farther south than normal. A short segment of County Highway 11 is closed just east of Pequot Lakes City Hall. The signed detour will direct travelers to Derksen Road, just south of the Highway 371 and County Highway 11 intersection.
FARGO - Emergency sirens sounded off just before 3 p.m. in Fargo-Moorhead after funnel clouds were spotted east of Moorhead. Pete Speicher, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Grand Forks, estimated that three to four funnel clouds were spotted. “There’s enough low-level rotation that once some weak storms began to develop they created some very weak, mostly high-based funnels,” he said.
East Grand Forks police are investigating two severed fingers found on a picnic table Thursday evening in the Red River State Recreation Area. Detective Tony Hart said police received a call that the fingers had been found about 5 p.m. It's still early in the investigation, and they haven't identified who the fingers belong to, Hart said, but they have been sent for testing with a medical examiner. The investigation is ongoing.
