A standoff that began Thursday in Thief River Falls is over, but the suspect is still at large, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office said Friday morning. Though the subject is still at large, Sheriff Ray Kuznia said he does not believe there is any danger to the general public. “We will continue to be out searching,” Kuznia said. The incident started at approximately 10:30 a.m.
BRAINERD -- Few leads have come in for the May 31 dog attack in Lum Park in Brainerd. Jenni Galligan, Brainerd, was bitten in the arm by a bullmastiff, about 150 pounds. The dog's owner told onlookers he was going to fetch a phone but instead witnesses said he loaded up his dog and fled the scene. The attack left Galligan with 19 stitches. Police are looking for a thin white male, about 20 to 25 in age with blond hair.

GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. -- A Grand Rapids man pleaded guilty to second-degree assault on Monday in the March 25 stabbing of his brother. Itasca County Attorney John J. Muhar said Kalin Vaughn William Wenell-Jack, 31, entered the guilty plea after reaching a plea agreement with prosecutors. He faces an anticipated sentence of 10 years in prison, according to a news release from Muhar's office.
LAS VEGAS-- Las Vegas police say a deaf Minnesota poker player may have been shot and killed outside an apartment complex near the Strip as a result of a marijuana transaction gone bad. John Cyril Collins, 39, of Lake Crystal, Minn., a small town near Mankato, died May 11 after apparently being shot by a passenger that had been in his back seat. The shooter has not been identified by police or found.
Vincent Bugliosi, who prosecuted cult leader Charles Manson and members of his so-called "family" for seven murders, then wrote books on everything from the Kennedy assassination to God, has died at age 80, his son said late Monday. Bugliosi, a native of Hibbing whose book "Helter Skelter" about the Manson case became one of the best-selling true crime books of all time, died Saturday night at a Los Angeles hospital after a long battle with cancer, his son Vincent Bugliosi Jr.
BLANCHARD, N.D. -- Four people died and four others are hospitalized after a possible carbon monoxide leak Sunday at a rural Blanchard home in eastern North Dakota. The victims were identified as Ross Matejcek, 53, of Blanchard, who owned the home; Ricky Fisher, 27, Blanchard; Margaret Fisher, 24, of Portland, N.D.; Jabin Newmes, 6, of Portland. Four others were in a Fargo hospital: Bonnie Fisher, 45, of Blanchard, and three children, ages 4, 2, and 8 months.

BEMIDJI -- A chain reaction sent motorcycles off the road Sunday, injuring three. A Honda and Harley-Davidson were traveling east Sunday on Highway 2 for the annual Ride for the Troops event when slower traffic ahead had both motorcycles veering off the highway. The Honda slowed and veered to the left as it approached traffic and slid to the left shoulder.
Four people were injured Sunday night in a two-vehicle collision in Gonvick, Minn. According to a report from Minnesota State Patrol, a Honda Civic operated by Susana Piatkoff, 16, Gonvick, was traveling northbound on Clearwater County Road 7 at about 9:12 p.m. when she failed to yield at the intersection with state Highway 92.
