Sheriff's Report The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to the following calls on Friday: Burglary 8:58 p.m. A theft of a chainsaw was reported on the 1900 block of 15th Street NW. Warrant 8:26 a.m. A 35-year-old man was arrested on a warrant on the 600 block of Minnesota Ave. NW. 1:18 p.m. A 48-year-old man was arrested on a warrant and cited for driving after revocation and no proof of insurance on the 5800 block of Highway 2 W. 5:08 p.m.

BEMIDJI — Weather in Bemidji last week was ideal for camping. In fact, one man was camping in the woods last Monday — when Beltrami County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a suspicious person call. The man was staying in a tent until his employment in the area was complete. The man had some shelter and the weather was cooperating. That isn't always the case. Homelessness in Bemidji isn't a new concern. A trend of known homeless people dying on the streets has become the norm the past two years; the most recent cases a man and a woman who passed away this autumn.
BAGLEY -- The last of five people arrested in a methamphetamine and pharmaceutical drug bust in Bagley was sentenced Tuesday in Clearwater County District Court to three years in prison. The arrests began in January and ended in April. Thomas Eugene Shook Sr., 44, of Bagley was sentenced to 39 months and 18 days in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for a felony third-degree drug sale charge. Shook was sentenced concurrently to 15 months in prison for a felony fourth-degree drug sale charge. A fifth-degree drug sale charge was dismissed.
BEMIDJI -- A Grygla man who led law enforcement on a high speed chase onto the Red Lake Indian Reservation in August has been found incompetent to stand trial. Timothy Lance Scott, 33, was arrested and charged with DWI, felony fleeing a peace officer and first-degree assault. Scott was spotted by a Minnesota State Trooper traveling east on U.S. Highway 2 west of Wilton at 84 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone.
BEMIDJI -- A Michigan man arrested with 11 pounds of marijuana in Bemidji plead guilty Tuesday in Beltrami County District Court. Richard Jay Barbour, 62, of Spring Lake, Mich., is charged with felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. Barbour was arrested Aug. 29 on U.S. Highway 2 after a Minnesota State Patrol Trooper clocked him at 84 mph in a 65 mph zone. Law enforcement learned Barbour was ordered by the state of Michigan to undergo a mental health evaluation, he was transported to Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.
BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man pleaded not guilty last week in Beltrami County District Court to felony drug charges. A search warrant executed on his residence in October revealed marijuana plants and mushrooms. Andrew Joseph Haman, 27, is charged with felony fifth-degree possession of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms. Haman was arrested Oct. 3 in Grant Valley Township and attempted to avoid arrest by fleeing deputies.
