BEMIDJI—Throughout Minnesota, violent crimes are on a steady decrease—albeit minute—according to a study released Wednesday. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension 2014 Uniform Crime Report shows a 0.1 percent decrease in violent crimes that include murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault and human trafficking. Beltrami County saw a decrease in most violent crime categories, however aggravated assaults increased by 61 percent—accounting for 1 percent of the state's recorded incidents.

BEMIDJI—Criminal vehicular operation charges were dismissed Tuesday in Beltrami County District Court against a Bemidji man arrested in October. David LaDuke, 21, was arrested Oct. 17 after the car he was driving flipped on its roof and went into Gull Lake in Hagali Township. One of LaDuke's passengers suffered a broken hip in the accident. LaDuke pleaded not guilty to the charge March 3. According to court documents, LaDuke told law enforcement he had been driving the car and had been drinking alcohol before the accident.
BAGLEY—A Bagley man pleaded guilty to one of five felony charges he faces after law enforcement discovered a methamphetamine lab at his residence in April. Darrin Forsberg, 44, pleaded guilty June 17 in Clearwater County District Court to aiding and abetting possession of methamphetamine with intent to manufacture.
RED LAKE—A methamphetamine possession charge was dismissed in county court against a Brooklyn Park, Minn., man caught with the drug in his possession in Red Lake in October, however, he will be charged. Michael Dukes was one of 41 people arrested in "Operation Exile," a multi-state drug bust, on May 28. On May 29, county level charges against Dukes were transferred to the federal level. Dukes, 47, was charged with felony fifth-degree possession of methamphetamine in Beltrami County District Court after he and Christopher Peoples, 33, of St.
