BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji Fire Department responded to a fire at Jim's Small Engine Repair shop Thursday afternoon. At approximately 3 p.m. a call came in of a fire on the 2300 block of Roosevelt Road SE. Occupants in the attached home escaped the structure and were tended to by Bemidji Ambulance, no injuries were reported. Although flames were contained early on, fire personnel remained on scene due to the danger of chemicals located inside the garage.

RED LAKE -- Two men were arrested Friday in Red Lake and are charged with possession of heroin and methamphetamine in Beltrami County. Christopher Erving Peoples, 33, of Red Lake, and Michael Linor Dukes, 46, address unknown, are charged with felony drug possession. Peoples and Dukes appeared Monday in Beltrami County District Court. Officers with the Headwaters Safe Trails Task Force and Beltrami County Sheriff's Office assisted the Red Lake Police Department in executing a search warrant Friday at a residence on the 23300 block of Highway 1 in Red Lake.

BEMIDJI -- A Red Lake woman was apprehended Saturday by Bemidji Police in Bemidji with more than 40 grams of methamphetamine. Stormie Jasmine Graves, 23, appeared Monday in Beltrami County District Court facing a felony first-degree possession of methamphetamine charge. Graves was arrested at approximately 10 p.m. Saturday outside a residence on the 2300 block of Calihan Ave. NE.
BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man was taken into custody Friday afternoon after he attempted to avoid arrest by fleeing out the backdoor of his Grant Valley Township residence. Andrew Joseph Haman, 27, appeared Monday in Beltrami County District Court charged with felony fifth-degree possession of marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms. At approximately 2:24 p.m., Beltrami County Sheriff's Office deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on the 1600 block of Pamela Court NW.

BEMIDJI -- Beltrami County Commissioners discussed two topics at Tuesday's county board meeting that have been on the agenda throughout the year -- homelessness in the area and increased capacity and functionality in the jail. People in tune with the homelessness situation in Bemidji have already heard of a possible shelter coming in the next three to five years. What's new is a potential funding source. "This past year was an unprecedented year at the state Legislature. There was $100 million allocated for affordable housing," said Rick Klun, executive director with Center City Housing.
