BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji woman connected to two separate stabbing incidents entered a guilty plea to an assault charge in Beltrami County District Court on Friday. Theressa Marie Myers, 43, was arrested in October after law enforcement responded to a report of a man who had been stabbed in his back. According to court documents, Myers said she and the man argued and he hit her. She denied stabbing the man.

HUBBARD COUNTY -- A Cass Lake man has been sentenced to less than a year in jail for stealing copper from a local lumber mill in August. Jeffrey Allen Goose, 28, was convicted of one count of felony third-degree burglary in Hubbard County District Court on Dec. 1. Goose was sentenced to 136 days local confinement in the Hubbard County Jail. A 21-month prison sentence in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud was stayed for five years.
BELTRAMI COUNTY -- The final of four people from Cass Lake arrested for kidnapping and assaulting two people in March has been sentenced in Beltrami County District Court. Methamphetamine was a factor in the incident. John Jacob White, 25, was found guilty and convicted of two counts of kidnapping on Nov. 25. White has been sentenced to 54 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for the first count which is stayed for 20 years.
BEMIDJI -- A former BSU football player accused of sexually assaulting a woman in February was found not guilty by a jury on Thursday in Beltrami County District Court. Trial proceedings began Dec. 1. Joshua Riley Malone, 20, of Gordon, Wis., faced a felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge for allegedly having sex with an unconscious victim at a house party on Feb. 21. Malone pleaded not guilty to the charge in July. According to court documents, the victim reportedly became highly intoxicated at the party and woke up in Malone's bed.
