BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl was convicted Monday in Beltrami County District Court of felony second-degree criminal sexual conduct. Matthew August Loos, 28, pleaded not guilty in June to a felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct charge for an incident that took place in May 2013. Loos’ plea was amended to guilty through an Alford plea, which means Loos does not admit guilt, but acknowledges that court has enough evidence to convict him if the case were to go to trial. The charge was changed from first- to second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
BEMIDJI -- A Colorado man was sentenced to a month local confinement and ordered to pay more than $8,000 in restitution after he broke into the Windsong Catered Living Facility in April. Sean Foster Heideman, 25, of Westminster, Colo., pleaded guilty to felony first-degree damage to property in October. He was sentenced Monday in Beltrami County District Court to 30 days in the Beltrami County Jail and placed on five years supervised probation. Heideman was ordered to pay $8,105 in restitution and a $500 fine.

BEMIDJI -- The final member of a trio who attempted to transport methamphetamine from the Twin Cities to Red Lake has been sentenced. Delisha Rae Rodriguez, 25, of Minneapolis was sentenced Nov. 10 in Beltrami County District Court to six years in prison for felony first degree drug sale. Rodriguez was arrested in May with Alex Dejesus-Zuniga and Joseph Jacob Thunder III when the Jeep they were in was stopped south of Bemidji on U.S. Highway 71.
BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man was found guilty of felony terroristic threats Thursday in Beltrami County District Court. Kenneth Oscar Osmundson, 24, is charged with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and terroristic threats-reckless disregard after he attempted to kill himself and a passenger by rolling his car on U.S. Highway 2 in July, according to court documents. Osmundson pleaded not guilty to the charges in September. A second-degree assault charge carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a $14,000 fine.
