BEMIDJI— A Bemidji man charged with six counts of felony possessing pornographic work involving minors is scheduled to appear in Beltrami County District Court on Tuesday. Richard Wayne Henry, 49, was arrested April 9 after law enforcement received a report of someone in the city of Bemidji attempting to upload child pornographic images.
BEMIDJI—A Cass Lake man and woman are facing felony drug sale charges after they were arrested in a Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force drug buy. More than 16 grams of methamphetamine were seized. Cherie Kay Kingbird, 33, and Michael Wayne Fairbanks, 40, both of Cass Lake have been connected to methamphetamine sales in Bemidji.

BEMIDJI—A Redby woman arrested in connection with burglaries in Beltrami and Koochiching counties has been sentenced to prison time in Beltrami County District Court. Holly Johnson, 31, was convicted of felony first-degree burglary and sentenced to 50 months in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee. Johnson pleaded guilty to one count of first-degree burglary in March, a second count was dismissed. She was sentenced in Beltrami County District Court on April 24.
WHITE EARTH—A Mahnomen woman accused of breaking into a man's home and stabbing him in March has entered pleas to felony charges in Clearwater County District Court. Serena Oppegard, 41, was facing felony first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling and second-degree assault charges. Oppegard pleaded not guilty to the charges April 29 but changed her plea through a plea agreement May 15. The second-degree assault charge was changed to third-degree. When law enforcement arrived at the scene on Strawberry Mountain Road in Clearwater County at approximately 5:13 a.m.

BEMIDJI—Charges against three men charged with felony fifth-degree drug sale have been dismissed in Beltrami County District Court. Kyle Bruers, 19, of Bagley, and Austin Tischman, 19, of Wilton, were arrested along with Cody Graser, 19, of Wilton, in December after law enforcement responded to a report of an armed home invasion at their Wilton residence. Charges against Bruers and Tischman were dismissed on May 11. The charge against Graser was dismissed April 22. During the home invasion, a bullet was shot through a wall.
CASS LAKE—It started as a splattering of blue specks Thursday morning and evolved into a sea of cyan waving through the streets of Cass Lake. Walkers, runners and anyone willing to go the distance—five kilometers—donned matching blue t-shirts and hit the trail for the Leech Lake Diabetes Fitness Center's 23rd annual Memorial Walk/Run. Leech Lake Diabetes Fitness Center director Eric Jackson said the event takes place each year on the Thursday before Memorial Day as a reminder of those who have gone before us.
