BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji State University student was transported to Sanford Medical Center Fargo after being found outside in the cold Sunday morning. The student has been identified as Hannah Rolschau. Scott Faust, BSU director of communications and marketing, said Rolschau was a second-year education major. "The university's primary focus at this point is Hannah's welfare and her family and her recovery," Faust said. Sanford Medical Center Fargo confirmed Rolschau was a patient Monday afternoon.
BEMIDJI -- Three men are facing felony robbery charges after assaulting a man in Bemidji early Thursday morning. Robin Lee Lussier, 25, of Bemidji, Shelby Gene Boswell, 23, of St. Paul, and Brandon James Madigan, 18, of Cass Lake, were arrested Tuesday morning when Bemidji Police responded to a report of an ongoing assault and robbery on the 100 block of Gemmel Avenue in Bemidji. Upon arrival at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers observed a male running out of a residence cradling his left arm, according to court documents. The victim had blood on his face and body.

Robbery 2:31 a.m. An 18-year-old man and a 25-year-old man were arrested following a robbery call to the 100 block of Gemmel Ave. SW. Drugs 9:53 p.m.

Accident 12:35 p.m. A 27-year-old woman was arrested on a warrant and a 22-year-old man was cited following a vehicle in the ditch minor injury accident on the 15500 block of Irvine Ave. NW. Theft 3:08 p.m.

BLACKDUCK -- Two men who burglarized a Blackduck residence in August were sentenced Monday in Beltrami County District Court. Derick Jay Borntrager, 28, of Hines and Billie Joe Large, 25, of Bemidji were arrested after Large's wallet was found in a stolen ATV that was abandoned on the Paul Bunyan Trail. Borntrager and Hines were linked to a burglary in Blackduck where two ATVs, a flatbed trailer, collectible beer signs and firearms were stolen. Borntrager received a five-year prison sentence, which was stayed for 15-years, on a possession of a pistol or assault weapon charge.
BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji woman connected to a van theft in November pleaded not guilty Monday in Beltrami County District Court. Jessica Tara Barney, 32, faces a felony simple robbery charge for her alleged involvement in the beating of a man in a mall parking lot Nov. 21. Barney and a male accomplice were identified as his attackers and arrested. The victim told law enforcement he met Barney at a shelter and drove her to the mall. Barney reportedly went into the mall and returned with three people who jumped the victim and stole his van. Two of the people were not charged.
RED LAKE -- The Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians Tribal Council unanimously approved Tuesday a study on how medicinal marijuana and industrial hemp could benefit the Red Lake Nation. Many American Indian tribes began discussing the potential of marijuana and hemp on reservations after the federal Department of Justice released a memo Dec. 11 in response to some tribes requesting guidance on the enforcement of the Controlled Substance Act on tribal lands by the U.S.
