BEMIDJI -- On a cold November night beneath a dark Minnesota sky, community members gathered around a table much like they may have in years past to preserve a tradition born in this region -- creating dream catchers. Historically, the bawaajige nagwaagan (dream catcher), originated with the Ojibwe people. The Bemidji State University Council of Indian Students includes a dream catcher workshop annually during its Native American Heritage Month celebration week. "This year is a little different, we focussed on promoting the events," said co-president of the council Amber Dorr.
