BEMIDJI—The Nameless Coalition for the Homeless was given a green light in August to open a nighttime seasonal shelter in downtown Bemidji. A month before the doors are to open, the light has turned yellow, but plans are still on for a Nov. 1 opening. The Nameless Coalition for the Homeless and the Greater Bemidji Area Joint Planning Board (JPB) have been served a summons and complaint in a civil action lawsuit. During the coalition's application process with the JPB, the law firm Fuller, Wallner, Cayko, Pederson and Huseby Ltd.
BEMIDJI—The Bemidji Police Department and Beltrami County Sheriff's Office will be participating in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's 10th National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Saturday. People can anonymously dispose of unwanted, unneeded or expired prescription drugs at the Law Enforcement Center in Bemidji. There is no charge for the service. Drugs will be collected between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Accident 7:36 a.m. Deputies responded to report of explosion and vehicle fire on Jones Townhall Road NW and Highway 2 W in Solway. One adult male transported by ambulance. BEMIDJI—On a foggy Minnesota morning, two men who have been scheming since spring to embark on a westward voyage to sunny Hollywood hit the highway in a boxy van with a film crew and a dream. The men are Rob Fairbanks, the "Rez Reporter" from Cass Lake and Red Laker Jon "Jonny R" Roberts. Seeing a lack of Native entertainers in mainstream media, funny men Fairbanks and Roberts dreamed up the idea in May to create a film about Native comedians and life in general.
