BEMIDJI -- Students at Bemidji State University are not naive to the detrimental effects of alcohol use, neither is the BSU administration. The two groups came together Thursday morning in the Beaux Arts Ballroom at Hobson Memorial Union for a Campus Summit on Alcohol and Student Safety. The meeting comes after two young women attending BSU were hospitalized in alcohol-related incidents. One student later died. BSU President Dr.
Sheriff's Report The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to the following calls on Wednesday: Assault 1:18 a.m. A 26-year-old man, 24-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were arrested following a property damage complaint on the 19700 block of Plantation Road SE in Cass Lake. Vehicle calls 7:40 p.m. Two vehicles ran into the ditch on Birchmont Beach Road NE and Pincherry Road NE.

BEMIDJI -- A Beltrami County warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man who was originally arrested for heroin possession in Little Rock on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in October. David Contrell McClure, 22, is listed as having an address in Minneapolis and Naperville, Ill., according to court documents. A warrant was issued Friday for McClure's arrest after he failed to appear at a hearing in Beltrami County District Court. McClure had 40 grams of heroin in his possession when Red Lake Tribal Police officers executed a search warrant at a Little Rock residence Oct. 14.
BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man accused of assaulting and robbing a man earlier this month pleaded not guilty Monday in Beltrami County District Court. Robin Lee Lussier, 25, is charged with felony second-degree aggravated robbery resulting from an incident in Bemidji on Jan. 15. Lussier was arrested along with Shelby Gene Boswell, 23, of St.
Sheriff's Report The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to the following calls on Tuesday: DWI 12:53 a.m. A 42-year-old woman was arrested for DWI following a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Spirit Ave. NW in Wilton. Pursuit 12:31 p.m. A 36-year-old man was arrested for fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle and DWI following a seven mile pursuit on Eckles Road NW and Birdsview Lane NW in Eckles Township. BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl was sentenced Monday in Beltrami County District Court to seven months in jail. Matthew August Loos, 29, was convicted of second-degree criminal sexual conduct for an incident that took place in May 2013. According to court documents, Loos allegedly sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl while she was sleeping. The assault included penetration. Loos was sentenced Monday to 210 days local confinement in the Beltrami County Jail. He has been credited with 101 days time served.
BEMIDJI -- A Bagley woman pleaded not guilty in Beltrami County District Court to felony first-degree burglary. Kristy Iva Platt, 31, was arrested after she and Cassie Barrick, 32, of Richmond, Minn., were identified as the women who attacked a woman and broke down the door to her apartment on July 25. Platt was arrested July 26; Barrick was apprehended Aug. 25. Both women are charged with first-degree burglary, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine. Platt pleaded not guilty Jan. 20. Platt's next court appearance is scheduled for March 31.
