BEMIDJI -- Two Bemidji men face felony level charges after responding to an online sex sting from the Bemidji Police Department. The department launched an investigation into predators seeking sex with minors in the Bemidji area in February. "These arrests are a result of ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to combat child sex trafficking in the Bemidji area," Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin said in a release Wednesday. On Feb.
Sheriff's Report The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office responded to the following calls on Tuesday: Pursuit 12:23 a.m. A 26-year-old woman was arrested for fleeing a peace officer and a warrant on the 2400 block of Paul Bunyan Drive NW following a vehicle pursuit that started in the city of Bemidji and ended in Eckles Township. A stolen car was recovered and one passenger was taken into custody after occupants crashed and fled on foot. Accident 6:35 a.m. A car vs. deer accident was reported on the 10000 block of Aspen Ave.

WALKER -- A Bemidji man accused of attempted murder for his involvement in the August stabbing and kidnapping of a man in Cass Lake was convicted of felony assault and robbery in Cass County Court Monday. Travis Paquette, 19, was sentenced to 8 years in the Minnesota Correctional Facility in St. Cloud for first-degree assault and 18 months in prison for simple robbery. Paquette and an accomplice, Sheldon Armstrong III, 22, of Cass Lake, were accused of assaulting and stabbing a victim and attempting to drive him over with his own truck.
BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man facing a felony criminal vehicular operation charge after flipping a car carrying passengers in October pleaded not guilty in Beltrami County District Court. David LaDuke, 20, was arrested Oct. 17 after Beltrami County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a call of three men and a car flipped on its roof in Gull Lake in Hagali Township. A man suffered a broken hip in the accident. LaDuke pleaded not guilty to the charge March 3. According to court documents, LaDuke told law enforcement he had been driving the car and had been drinking.

BEMIDJI -- A Bemidji man facing felony murder charges for the death of a Redby woman in February appeared in Beltrami County District Court on Friday. Brian Jourdain, 25, faces two counts of second-degree murder for allegedly stabbing Krista Fisherman multiple times on Feb. 13. Fisherman was found lying on a Bemidji street at about 7:15 p.m. and pronounced dead at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center 30 minutes later.
