BLACKDUCK -- A PrimeWest insurance card led Beltrami County Sheriff's deputies to two men involved in a Blackduck burglary. Derick Jay Borntrager, 28, of Hines, and Billie Joe Large, 25, of Bemidji, were connected to a burglary on Beighley Road NW in Blackduck in which two ATVs, a flatbed trailer, Miller beer collectible signs and firearms were stolen. Large's wallet was found in one of the ATVs. On Aug. 25 a side-by-side ATV was reported abandoned on the Paul Bunyan Trail south of Lakeside Drive.
CASS LAKE -- The Cass Lake man involved in a crash that killed two people in May pleaded not guilty Monday in Cass County Court to felony criminal vehicular homicide. Michael James Stangel, 27, is charged with eight counts of criminal vehicular homicide.
BEMIDJI -- A Cass Lake man pleaded not guilty Monday in Beltrami County Court to felony criminal sexual conduct. Ira Ray Keezer, 37, is accused of molesting a 5-year-old girl in February while she was visiting family in Bemidji. Keezer is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and a $35,000 fine. According to court documents, Keezer denied touching the victim inappropriately. He is being held in the Beltrami County Jail. Keezer is scheduled for a pretrial hearing on Tuesday.

BEMIDJI -- A 23-year-old Kelliher man was convicted Monday in Beltrami County Court of criminal sexual conduct involving a 13-year-old girl. John Norman Wickham III was charged with fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct for having sex with the girl in July 2013. He plead not guilty in March and amended his plea to guilty in July. Wickham was sentenced to one year in Beltrami County Jail of which 344 days are stayed for two years. Wickham must serve 21 days and was credited with two days time served.
RED LAKE -- A Red Lake man pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in U.S. District Court in Fergus Falls Wednesday morning. Trevor Lee Jones, 20, is charged with unlawfully killing Jerick Michael Neadeau, 17, in July. Jones is accused of stabbing Neadeau in the chest with a buck knife, causing his death when the two fought during a July 4 party at a residence located within the Red Lake Indian Reservation, according to court documents. Jones is an enrolled member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians, as was Neadeau. Jones was charged with second-degree murder on Aug. 22.
BEMIDJI -- A jury trial has been set for a former BSU football player who pleaded not guilty in Beltrami County Court to felony criminal sexual conduct. Joshua Riley Malone, 20, of Gordon, Wis., was living in Bemidji and a member of the BSU football team at the time he was accused of having sex with an unconscious victim at a house party in February. Malone plead not guilty to the charge in July.
