Weapons 6:29 p.m. A 40-year-old man was arrested for terroristic threats and domestic assault following a weapons offense call to the 8300 block of Haven Lane NE. Burglary 7:30 p.m. A burglary was reported on the 3300 block of Mission Road NE. SWAT 10:21 p.m.

BEMIDJI—A group of people gathered at Peoples Church almost two years ago with a common goal—to create a homeless shelter before snowfall. On Friday, a key fit a lock that opened a door to what will become the Nameless Coalition for the Homeless shelter this fall. A lot has happened since that initial meeting, on Nov. 18, 2013. The group became a coalition and is now a non-profit in the process of purchasing the former Headwaters Unitarian Universalist Fellowship church on the corner of Sixth Street and America Avenue Northwest downtown.

Drugs 3:16 a.m. A 27-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man were arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 71 NW and Irvine Ave. NW. BENA—Members of the Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig school board and staff were pleased to see their school's name on a Congressional letter of support to the U.S. Department of the Interior at Thursday's school board meeting. Interim Superintendent and Special Education Coordinator Pam Walker distributed a letter signed by U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken and Reps. John Kline, Tim Walz, Erik Paulsen, Betty McCollum, Keith Ellison, Tom Emmer, Collin Peterson and Rick Nolan stating they will be monitoring progress on the department's updating of a school replacement list from 2004.

BEMIDJI—Sixteen homeless people will have a warm place to sleep this winter in Bemidji in a place that didn't exist last year. In a 4-to-1 vote, the Greater Bemidji Joint Planning Board passed a motion Wednesday to approve an interim use permit and variance for a downtown homeless shelter. The proposed shelter would be located at the site of the Headwaters Unitarian Universalist Fellowship's church at Sixth Street and America Avenue. The church is in the process of relocating. The shelter will be open overnight during cold weather months, from October to April.
