BEMIDJI -- Robert Griggs, who has filled several roles at BSU since he first came here in 2000, can now add another: interim dean of Northwest Technical College. Griggs, most recently the vice president for innovation and extended learning at both NTC and BSU, on Wednesday was announced as the interim dean of NTC, a position designed to help the college prepare for expected restructuring. "I'm very excited to be provided this opportunity to work with NTC faculty, staff and students," Griggs told the Pioneer on Wednesday afternoon from his new office. Griggs replaces John Centko, who served
BEMIDJI -- As a mother, Rima Keprios celebrated her daughter's graduation from BSU. As a daughter, Chloe Keprios celebrated her mother's graduation from BSU. Both took part in BSU's 95th commencement ceremonies Friday at the Sanford Center, making the traditional commencement walk side by side. "I am proud of her," Chloe said. "She just keeps going, she hasn't stopped, nothing holds her down." It was never supposed to happen this way and certainly wasn't planned. Rima over the years took classes when she could, as she could, between homelife and jobs.

"It's not one size fits all," Jesson said, speaking from the community room inside Beltrami Electric.
BEMIDJI -- When Bemidji High School was named among the best high schools in the state, it came as little to surprise to the students who have roamed the halls here the past four years. U.S. News and World Report last week named Bemidji High School the 22nd best school in the state, earning it a silver medal.

BEMIDJI -- In her seventh and last year competing on the local History Day team, senior Amanda Swenson chose a difficult topic to research. For eight months, she's been delving into the Nazi medical experiments. "I'm an emotional wreck half of the time," she said, discussing what she has learned.
BEMIDJI -- Evan White asked Tara Bergeron to prom in a big way: with letters larger than his own home. Evan and Tara, both seniors, were among four friends who recently took a plane ride up around Bemidji. Tara didn't think anything of it, because after Evan had gone for a similar ride without her once before, she had asked that the next time, she be invited to come along. Four friends were in the plane for the most recent excursion.
