BEMIDJI -- Bemidji High School has been named as one of the top 500 best schools in the country for low-income students. The school ranked No. 412 in Newsweek's Beating The Odds 2014 -- Top Schools For Low-Income Students. BEMIDJI -- The three-story brass railing, emulating a music note, was trucked into Bemidji on a flatbed truck, hoisted up by a crane, and then meticulously dropped into place in the center of what is now known as the David Park House. "This railing came in one piece and they poured the concrete around it," recalled Marla Patrias, who served as the David Park House manager in the 2000s. "The marvel of this construction is just mind-boggling to me." The David Park House is one of 22 Minnesota homes featured in a new book from the Minnesota Historical Society Press to be released this week.

Following that vote, the Student Senate unanimously passed a Bill of Particulars, which echoes sentiments shared by a number of faculty and student associations throughout the MnSCU system. Faculty at all seven universities have passed votes of "no confidence" in Rosenstone's leadership.

When Jennifer Theisen, a programmer/analyst at Bemidji State University, founded the northern Minnesota chapter of Girls Who Code earlier this year, she initially hoped that maybe 10 girls would be interested in joining. She now maintains a roster of around 50 girls in sixth through 12th grade. "They're soaking it up like a sponge," Theisen said.
