WASHINGTON— A strongly bipartisan 20-1 vote by the Senate Ag Committee on Wednesday, June 13, has sent the five-year 2018 Farm Bill to the full Senate and added momentum to get the measure passed by the time the current bill expires on Sept. 30. The senators hope the House will then hold another vote on its version of the bill that was defeated in May to send it to a conference committee for a final agreement.
HENNING, Minn.—A body found in Henning in Otter Tail County in western Minnesota last Friday has been identified as a 19-year-old man whose family said he had been battling with drug addiction. The victim was Jordan Bolgrean, 19, of Henning. His body was taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office in Ramsey in Anoka County for an autopsy after it was found along the railroad tracks about 12:30 p.m. Friday, June 8. No cause of death has been determined, although no foul play was suspected.

WalletHub, a personal finance website known for its in-depth studies, said one of the reasons Minnesota was ranked near the top was that it has the highest median family income adjusted for cost of living of $95,483. That’s two times higher than in Hawaii, which has the lowest at $47,631.
SPEARFISH, S.D. -- The death of an Illinois man who died from a prairie rattlesnake bite while golfing last week in the Black Hills is being called a “tragic fluke.” Lawrence Walters, 70, died at the Spearfish hospital after he was bit while looking for a ball in the rough at the Elkhorn Ridge Golf Club.

PAUL -- Using hydraulic jets to get rid of “muck” or to uproot aquatic plants in Minnesota lakes is illegal, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. “We remind lakeshore property owners that just because you can buy a hydraulic jet does not make them legal to use in all situations,” said Jon Hansen, aquatic plant management consultant. “You may not use them in any way that disturbs the lake bottom or destroys rooted aquatic plants.”
