FARGO -- U.S. attorney for North Dakota Chris Myers will be a part of Tuesday news conference in Washington on Tuesday morning to announce a major milestone in the fight to stop deadly fentanyls from entering the United States. Myers, according to his office, will joint Deputy U.S. Attorney General Rod rod Rosenstein for the announcement at the Department of Justice.
ST. PAUL -- Minnesota lake property owners are urged to carefully check boats and trailers, docks and lifts, and all other water-related equipment for invasive species when removing equipment for seasonal storage. The state Department of Natural Resources said this is important as new zebra mussel infestations were initially reported by people making fall inspections of docks, boats and boat lifts. The DNR recommends these steps for lake property owners:
STURGIS, S.D. -- Official attendance for the 2017 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was released Thursday showing an estimated 480,000 people attended the 77th annual event in August, up from last year. Last year’s estimate was 448,000 visitors.
BACKUS, Minn. -- The Cass County Sheriff’s Office continues to pursue tips in an attempt to locate the suspect involved in the Sept. 16 home invasion case in which a homeowner shot at the intruder who fled the scene in rural Backus in northern Minnesota.
DULUTH, Minn -- Authorities on Thursday pulled a dead body from a storm sewer in Canal Park along Lake Superior. Duluth police said the body was discovered around 1 p.m. by public works employees who were conducting routine maintenance at a public restroom facility. Lt. Dan Chicos said the body was decomposed and would be sent to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in the Twin Cities for an autopsy to determine the identity and cause of death.
ST. PAUL -- A 14-year-old girl walked down the hallway of a St. Paul apartment building on her way to a relative’s unit when two men grabbed her and raped her, authorities say. One of the men, Adrian Raymaar Keys, was charged this week in connection with the sexual assault, according to a criminal complaint filed against him Wednesday in Ramsey County District Court. The 41-year-old St. Paul man faces one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Manslaughter charges filed in central Minn. case where man was run over in farmyard OLIVIA, Minn. -- Nearly two months after the body of 59-year-old Randy Oletzke was found in a farmyard in rural Franklin, criminal charges have been formally filed against the man who allegedly fatally ran him over.
FARGO — A bicyclist was in stable condition on Wednesday, Sept. 20, after he was hit and dragged one block under a vehicle driven by a 71-year-old Fargo man. Randy Bryson West, 19, of Texas, was riding his bike about 9:17 p.m. Monday when he was hit by a BMW driven by Theodore William Kleiman, of Fargo, in south Fargo. According to Fargo police, West and his bike were dragged underneath the BMW for one block before the driver stopped the car.
SOURIS, N.D. -- A northern North Dakota farmer’s 3-year-old son fell out of his tractor on Tuesday morning and got run over by the rear tires. Killed in the accident two miles north of Newburg was Burke Henry.
CASS LAKE, Minn. -- A $3.3 million federal grant has been awarded to the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe to build a veterans cemetery in Cass Lake in northern Minnesota. The grant will fund the construction of a main entrance, a combined administration and maintenance facility, roads, an assembly area, a committal shelter, 419 casketed sites, 32 cremains gravesites, 64 columbarium niches, a memorial wall, a memorial walk, landscaping, and supporting infrastructure.
