BLOOMING PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The southeast Minnesota woman accused of shooting to death her husband at their home in Blooming Prairie and then a stranger she met in Florida was captured in a convenience store video in Iowa that law officers hope will help in finding her. The Dodge County (Minn.) Sheriff’s Department said the video shows Lois Ann Riess grabbing a sandwich and asking a clerk for directions to go south.
WALHALLA, N.D. -- A Walhalla man died in a fiery single-vehicle rollover crash in Pembina County Wednesday. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the 53-year-old driver was traveling east on County Road 1 about 4 miles southeast of Walhalla about 2 p.m. when he failed to follow a curve in the road. When he tried to correct, he lost control of his 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup, drove in the south ditch and was ejected.
ROSEAU, Minn.—A Warroad, Minn., man faces numerous charges for allegedly threatening to kill police and kicking the face of an officer, giving the officer a bleeding mouth. The Warroad Police Department arrested Justin James Johnson, 22, Friday after they were called to an apartment complex for a domestic report, according to court documents. Johnson initially ran from Officer Brendan Sandy but then stopped, the documents say.

BLOOMING PRAIRIE, Minn.— A southeast Minnesota woman being sought after her husband was murdered in March is now a suspect in a second death. Lois Riess of Blooming Prairie has been identified as a suspect in death of Pamela Hutchinson in Bradenton, Fla., according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office in southern Florida. Investigators believe Riess may have killed Hutchinson earlier this week in order to assume her identity. The Lee County Attorney's Office announced charges against Riess in Hutchinson's death on Friday morning, April 13.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- A 28-year-old Minnesota man who pointed a handgun at five teenagers in a Mercedes Benz car at a Sioux Falls truck stop, forced them to get out and then stole the vehicle has been sent to federal prison for 10 years. Michael Chase Jaime of Dilworth, who pleaded guilty to the charge of carjacking in December, was sentenced this week by U.S. District Judge Karen Schreier in Sioux Falls.
ST. PAUL—Minnesota joined 16 other states and the District of Columbia to sue the U.S. government Tuesday, April 3, saying the addition of a citizenship question to the census form is unconstitutional. The lawsuit aims to block the Trump administration from adding the last-minute citizenship question to the 2020 census. The suit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, also includes six cities and the bipartisan U.S. Conference of Mayors and comes a week after California sued the administration over the same issue.
