MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — About 2,000 Twin Cities area security guards are preparing for a one-day strike sometime this week. Service Employees International Union members gathered Sunday to learn more about the status of the talks and to review a tentative deal reached for last week for 4,000 janitors represented by the union that includes a raise of $1.20 an hour over three years.
WALKER, Minn. (AP) — A northern Minnesota man has pleaded guilty to fatally stabbing another man after an argument at a party last year. Cass County Attorney Christopher Strandlie says 24-year-old Frank Jesse LaRose of Longville pleaded guilty Thursday to second-degree murder. LaRose was accused of stabbing 31-year-old James Elmberg of Walker during a party on Feb. 5, 2012.
BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (AP) — The body of an 18-year-old woman has been found hidden in a car that was towed to an impound lot in Columbia Heights. Anoka County sheriff's officials say the body was discovered Thursday — eight days after the car was towed out of Brooklyn Park. Authorities say a private towing company moved the vehicle from an apartment complex. The towing company did not see the body, which was concealed in the passenger compartment.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police on Friday searched for a Range Rover with dark tinted windows and custom rims that set off a fiery crash on the Las Vegas Strip when someone in the luxury SUV opened fire on a Maserati driven by an aspiring rapper. Kenneth Cherry's great aunt, Patricia Sims, of Oakland, Calif., told The Associated Press that Cherry's parents were flying to Las Vegas to claim their 27-year-old son's body. "Right now my heart is breaking," Sims said. "This has really been a tragedy. Kenny was just a delightful kid."
NEW YORK (AP) — Put on your suit and tie: Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z are hitting the road together. The performers announced Friday that they'll embark on a 12-city stadium tour that will kick off July 17 in Toronto. "Legends of the Summer" will wrap up Aug. 16 in Miami. Stops on the tour also include New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Boston. Jay-Z is featured on Timberlake's comeback single, "Suit & Tie." Timberlake's new album, "The 20/20 Experience," will be released March 19.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Minneapolis woman has been charged with kidnapping after police said she befriended another woman and then made off with her 8-month-old son. Isabel Diaz-Castillo, 30, was charged Friday in Hennepin County. The boy's mother, Vicky Orozco, called police Wednesday and said her son Carlos had been taken from her apartment while she was taking a shower. The boy was recovered a few hours later.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — A home in Fargo that will rent space to felons trying to adjust back into the community is expected to be ready Saturday. KVLY television reports that a Minnesota faith-based nonprofit group has partnered with the Jail Chaplains ministry to create My Father's House. Those who pass a screening process will be required to pay a portion of the rent. Similar homes have been established in 25 locations across Minnesota.
BURNSVILLE, Minn. (AP) — A Burnsville woman is accused of assaulting her husband with a hammer and trying to strangle him with a telephone cord. Seventy-one-year-old Sharon Ann Ripka is charged in Dakota County District Court with attempted domestic assault by strangulation, making terroristic threats and interfering with a 911 call.
