NEW YORK (AP) — Prince is continuing to ramp up his public profile. This week, he'll make an appearance on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.” A rep for the late-night talk show confirmed the pop legend will appear on the show Friday and will perform two songs. It's not clear whether he'll perform new material or some of his classics. The reclusive star has been back in the spotlight recently. He presented record of the year trophy at the Grammys, released the song “Screwdriver” on his new website and is due to perform several dates in Europe this summer.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota senators are returning to a familiar topic: whether to permit Sunday liquor store sales. The committee will also discuss a host of other alcohol-related bills.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Just as Oscar host Seth MacFarlane set his sights on a variety of targets with a mixture of hits and misses, the motion picture academy spread the gold around to a varied slate of films. "Argo" won best picture as expected, along with two other prizes. But "Life of Pi" won the most awards with four, including a surprise win for director Ang Lee. "Les Miserables" also won three Academy Awards, while "Django Unchained" and "Skyfall" each took two.
NEW YORK (AP) — He ruffled feathers. He maybe even turned some viewers off. But it's likely no one turned off Seth MacFarlane. Best-known until recently as the bad-boy creator and character voice behind "Family Guy" and last summer's hit film "Ted," MacFarlane seized the camera Sunday as host of ABC's Oscarcast and proved to its vast audience that he's a ridiculously versatile entertainer, a guy who can be as charming as he is famously irreverent, even polarizing.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says Paul Fenske of Silver Lake was traveling eastbound along the tracks Saturday night. A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train was heading eastbound at the same time.
MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the stabbing death of a 16-year-old North St. Paul girl who was found dead in a Maplewood park. Maplewood Police Chief Dave Kvam says Anna Lynn Hurd died from several stab wounds. She was found about 4:30 a.m. Saturday in Hillside Park, a few blocks from home. Police are providing few details, but Kvam says they don't believe there's a danger to the general public.
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — From a small tick up to a big bump, Minnesota lawmakers anxious to boost the state's minimum wage start making their case to colleagues this week. A Minnesota House panel opens its discussion of a probable hike to the floor wage Monday by reviewing presentations on the economic impact of the minimum wage. The same committee was planning to take public testimony on Wednesday. An all-Democratic state government gives good odds to an increase.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — About 2,000 Twin Cities area security guards are preparing for a one-day strike sometime this week. Service Employees International Union members gathered Sunday to learn more about the status of the talks and to review a tentative deal reached for last week for 4,000 janitors represented by the union that includes a raise of $1.20 an hour over three years.
