DULUTH — Minnesota-Duluth dominated the end of the first half and the beginning of the second to hand the BSU women a 72-50 loss Friday in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Action at Romano Gym. BEMIDJI — Bemidji’s seniors may not have had the best final season, but Thursday they came away with a memorable 54-41 win over Grand Rapids at the high school gym. “We are very satisfied,” Bemidji head coach Dan Ninham said of the win. “They are a big-time program, so to win on our home floor for our last home game is encouraging.” The win was the last home game for seniors Joe Strong, Collin Rutledge, Jaylen Ingalls and Gabe Salander. “It is a really big win,” Rutledge said.
BEMIDJI — The BSU women’s basketball team enters its last road trip of the 2013-14 regular season on the heels of a win, and it is looking to build on that success as it heads to the conference tournament. After falling short in eight straight contests, the Beavers finally broke through in a 52-49 win over Concordia-St. Paul last Saturday. Head coach Mike Curfman is hoping his team can build on that win to become a team that can make a run in next week’s NSIC tournament. “Every year, there is a team that gets hot,” Curfman said.

BEMIDJI — BSU bounced back from a loss Friday night with a 90-77 win over Concordia-St.Paul Saturday at the BSU gym. With the win, the Beavers clinched at least a share of the NSIC North Division. “It feels really good,” BSU head coach Mike Boschee said of clinching a share of the division. “Winning is not an easy process, so any time you can achieve one of your goals, you have to enjoy it.” BSU’s seniors each stepped up in his own way on senior night.
BEMIDJI — BSU tightened its defense when it mattered most and earned a 52-49 win over Concordia-St. Paul Saturday at the BSU gym. The Beavers did not allow a made field goal in the last 4:57 and surrendered just two free throws during that span to snap its eight-game losing streak. “We have been so close, so to win tonight is awesome,” BSU head coach Mike Curfman said. “I thought we did a really good job defensively.
BEMIDJI — A brief scoring drought in the second half proved costly for BSU in a 79-74 loss to No. 18 Minnesota State Friday at the BSU gym. The Beavers trailed by 11 points with just over two minutes remaining but a trio of three-point plays from junior Brock Lutes helped the Beavers climb within a single possession at 77-74 with 14 seconds left. The late rally, however, fell just short. “I have never questioned the fight of this team,” BSU head coach Mike Boschee said.
BEMIDJI — Minnesota State proved to be worthy of No. 21 ranking in a 73-54 win over BSU Friday at the BSU gym. The Beavers committed 20 turnovers and spiraled to their eighth consecutive loss. “Turnovers were a huge part, especially when we only shot 33 percent in the first half,” BSU head coach Mike Curfman said. “We gave a very good team way too many easy baskets.” Karlee Gengenbacher scored nine points in the first five minutes to help propel the Mavericks to an early 18-7 lead.
