BEMIDJI – Chaska/Chanhassen capitalized on its power plays early and often to defeat the Bemidji girls hockey team 6-2 Friday night at the Bemidji Community Arena. The Storm Hawks (3-3-1) scored four of its six goals on the power play. Bemidji (0-4-4) got on the board first when Erin Booth deflected Allie Heifort’s slap shot into the net for a power play goal. “It was great. It was just how we drew it up,” Bemidji head coach Bob Brink said of the goal.
BEMIDJI — Last season Erica Trabing joined the Bemidji State women’s basketball team as a top-25 prospect in among Minnesota’s high school programs and everyone had high expectations for her freshman season. But her first year with the Beavers ended just as quickly as it started after she suffered a season-ending stress fracture in her collegiate debut against Lakehead on Nov. 3, 2011. She contributed four points, six rebounds and two assists in the game before the injury. “The hard thing was she had a stress fracture,” Bemidji State head coach Mike Curfman said.
