In a 2008 photo, Alex Ratelle sits in his home along the North Shore northeast of Grand Marais, Minn. Ratelle, an International Falls native who went on to finish Grandma's Marathon for 21 straight years through 1997 and became recognized as the race's grandfather, died Sunday in Grand Marais, where he had retired with his wife, Patty.
