The winner of the U.S. Savings Bond for the Oktoberfest celebration was Char Kohman. Char was diligent in digging in the sawdust pile to find the Blackduck Drake medallion that had been created by Kory Greiner, an art teacher at Blackduck High School. The sawdust pile was sponsored by Deerwood Bank and Forseen Excavating.

On Oct. 19, Blackduck Elementary School held their Accelerated Reading Awards Assembly. AR is a computerized program that tests students on comprehension after they read a book. Students were given their individual reading goals and then whirlwind of reading began! The AR contest went from Sept. 27-Oct. 14. Mrs. Frosaker's class was the first class to claim the bragging rights to everyone meeting their reading goal!
