The Bemidji Community Food Shelf staff partnered with staff from Luekens Village Foods for a training session to learn to use meat processing equipment worth $1.500. Meat managers from the north and south store processed 400 pounds of hamburger into one pound bags. Shown left, is Luekens South Meat Manager Sue Shepperdson, two BCFS volunteers and Luekens North Meat Manager Glenn Carroll being supervised by Wendell Affield.

The building that housed the Maid-Rite Cafe before it closed in May was torn down Tuesday. Lueken’s Village Foods has plans to build a new restaurant there called “Novo.”
