Lake Bemidji and the Bemidji area is hosting this season's Carhartt Bassmaster College Series National Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops. Ninety of the best collegiate student/angler teams -- including two from Bemidji State -- will be competing Aug. 10-12 on Lake Bemidji and surrounding waterways. The Loop the Lake Festival is a 17-mile bike ride around Lake Bemidji that will have a rolling start between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The route starts at the Sanford Center and goes north on Birchmont Drive, through Lake Bemidji State Park on Birchmont Beach Road and back to the Sanford Center on the Paul Bunyan State Trail.
