A Thursday pursuit involving the Bemidji Police Department resulted in a vehicle going into the Mississippi River. A Bemidji Police Department vehicle stopped short of the river, just over the edge of a steep decline. The incident was north of Carr Lake, south of the city limits. Minnesota Department of Transportation employee Bill Buhr practices rappelling down from a "snooper bucket" on Thursday under the Irvine Avenue Bridge in Bemidji. Snooper vehicles are specialty vehicles used during bridge inspections. Heavy machinery takes down the former Overbeek Electronics and Music building on Paul Bunyan Drive Southeast on Thursday after the business closed down earlier this year. Overbeek's had been in business for more than three decades. Purchased by the city, the land will be turned into a parking area. It is located next to city-owned Bemidji Lakeview Liquor.
