Mike Huber reads to children Friday morning at the Bemidji Public Library as part of the three-day Book Festival. Huber is an early childhood consultant and children’s book author. He has written six children's books; “Rita and the Firefighter,” “Bree Finds a Friend,” “The Amazing Erik,” “All in One Day,” “Evette’s Invitation” and “Mama’s Gloves.” The festival continues today with author Michael Fedo, who will present at 5:30 p.m. (Rachel Newville | Bemidji Pioneer)

The series will feature six presentations starting with Brenda Child, a University of Minnesota historian, at 6 p.m. Monday at the Bemidji Public Library. Child will be discussing “Strong Women/Strong Nations: Ojibwe Women at Work,” based on her book, “My Grandfather’s Knocking Sticks: Ojibwe Family Life and Labor on the Reservation.”
