The Bemidji Community Food Shelf staff partnered with staff from Luekens Village Foods for a training session to learn to use meat processing equipment worth $1.500. Meat managers from the north and south store processed 400 pounds of hamburger into one pound bags. Shown left, is Luekens South Meat Manager Sue Shepperdson, two BCFS volunteers and Luekens North Meat Manager Glenn Carroll being supervised by Wendell Affield.

Three members of the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Headwaters Gobblers Chapter, (from left) Scott Kurtzweg, Steve Aultman and Jim Potter, were on hand Wednesday as the chapter donated more than 450 pounds of turkey to the Bemidji Community Food Shelf. The chapter learned turkey was one food item rarely available at the food shelf so they purchased the holiday favorite. The Headwaters Gobblers Chapter will host their annual banquet on Feb. 20.
