WRESTLING: BHS takes third at Prowler Invite
THIEF RIVER FALLS -- Bemidji High School senior Hunter Schoenborn took first place in the 195-pound weight class Saturday, leading the Lumberjacks wrestling team to third place at the U.S. Army National Guard Prowler Invite on Saturday at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls.
Schoenborn went 3-0 on the day – topping Detroit Lakes’ Jordan Skadsem, Crookston’s Jake Wagner and Blackduck/Cass Lake-Bena’s Hunter Wilcowski – to secure 24 of the team’s 135.5 points, which finished behind only Ottertail Central (162) and Badger/Greenbush-Middle River (149). B/CL-B took sixth place with 107.5 points.
Other Lumberjacks finishing in the top five in their respective weight classes were Jon Solum (second, 132), Nate Golden (third, 138), Alan Wuori (third, 145), Chance Hinrichs (third, 152), Kaleb Beam (fourth, 285) and Joe Hudson (fifth, 126).
Bemidji nexts hosts Brainerd for a dual at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at BHS.
