VOLLEYBALL: Beavers sweep doubleheader to improve to 3-1
KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Bemidji State volleyball team swept a pair of matches Saturday at the Wisconsin-Parkside Tournament to improve to 3-1 on the season. The Beavers cruised to both wins by sweeping matches with Minnesota Crookston (26-24, 25-20, 25-19) and host UW-Parkside (25-23, 25-17, 25-22).
The Beavers’ attack out-hit the Golden Eagles 45 kills to 39 while also hitting at a .279 efficiency. Sophomore Anna Averkamp led BSU with 18 kills in 31 attacks while only committing five attacking errors for a .419 hitting percentage.
The BSU attack put on another dominant performance against the Rangers, hitting at a .307 efficiency as a team to out-hit UWP 44-32. Averkamp followed her career performance in the first match by racking up 14 kills to lead the team while also hitting at a .286 efficiency.
The Beavers will be on the road again next weekend when they travel to Marquette, Mich., to compete in the Northern Michigan Tournament.
