BOYS SWIMMING: BHS 8th at South Fargo
FARGO, N.D. -- Cameron Munter won the diving title at the Thomas Manley Memorial Invitational to lead the Bemidji High School boys swimming and diving team to an eighth-place finish at the 11-team meet in Fargo, N.D., Saturday.
The Lumberjacks picked up 113 points to finish behind meet winner Brainerd, who recorded 406.5 points.
Munter outscored 31 other divers to take first in the diving event with 407.45 points. Haakan and Brekt Thorsgard took ninth and 10th in the event with 293.55 and 290.3 scores, respectively.
Sam Hendricks and Luke Yartz finished back-to-back in the 200 free, taking fifth and sixth with times of 1:58.18 and 1:58.57. Hendricks also placed fourth in the 100 backstroke (1:00.15) and helped guide the 400 free relay team to a ninth-place finish. The team of Hendricks, Yartz, Gabe Goodwin and Nikita Graves swam a time of 3:40.64.
Bemidji will next host seven other teams in a home invitational this Friday, Jan. 12, at 5 p.m. in the BHS swimming pool.
