BOYS SOCCER: Jacks’ shutout streak continues with win over DL
DETROIT LAKES -- The Bemidji High School boys soccer team has looked unstoppable so far this season, and Tuesday was no different as the Lumberjacks cruised to a 6-0 shutout victory on the road over Detroit Lakes.
The win brings the Jacks to 3-0 on the season, outscoring opponents 19-0.
Bemidji opened the contest with two goals in the first half from Ben Hess (5’) and Silas Hess (30’), but the second half was where the Lumberjacks adjusted to the Lakers defense and broke the game open.
In the 52nd minute, Ethan Mock hit Silas Hess from the corner for a header to make it 3-0, and Hess then completed his hat trick in the 61st after taking a nifty pass from Aspen Galdamez.
Just six minutes later, Galdamez hit Ben Hess for Bemidji’s fifth goal, and Will Schwindt finished the scoring in the 72nd with a tally assisted by Silas Hess.
Despite having a penalty kick saved in the second half, Silas Hess finished the game with a hat trick and an assist. He leads the team with seven goals on the season.
Ben Hess added a pair of goals, while Galdamez racked up three assists. Blaine Sauer and Ethan Mock also each had helpers.
Bemidji returns home for a 3 p.m. game against Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Thursday, Aug. 30, at Bemidji Middle School, with the BHS girls to follow at 5 p.m. against Detroit Lakes.
