Chippewa National Forest schedules summer programs

CASS LAKE — Summer naturalist programs are in full swing at the area Visitor Centers across the Chippewa National Forest including the Norway Beach Visitor Center, located five miles east of Cass Lake. Naturalist hikes are scheduled every Saturday at 1 p.m. at Norway Beach. The events are as follows:

● 10 a.m. Saturday Wildflower hike

● 1 p.m. Saturday Minnesota’s State Flower—Showy Ladyslipper

● 10 a.m. July 2: Naturalist Surprise. If the Showy Lady Slippers are in bloom, there will be a car caravan up the Scenic Byway. If not in bloom, a surprise program.

● 9 - 11 a.m. July 4: Bike Parade, decorate bikes anytime between 9 and 10 a.m., parade begins at 10 a.m.

● 10 a.m. July 9: Get to Know Minnesota’s Bats

● 10 a.m. July 16: Fish Prints, bring an old T-shirt or you can purchase one at the Visitor Center

● 10 a.m. July 23: Bald Eagles

● 10 a.m. July 30: Minnesota’s State Bird—Loons

● 1 p.m. Aug. 6: Smokey’s Birthday

● 10 a.m. Aug. 13: Name that Frog Song

● 10 a.m. Aug. 20: Breakfast in Ojibwe
