Katie Jensen is Bemidji High School's Gymnast of the Year

BEMIDJI - Katie Jensen was named the Gymnast of the Year for the Bemidji High School gymnastics team during its annual season-ending team dinner.

Jensen also was voted by her teammates as the Most Dedicated while Ellie Thompson won the award for Most Improved and Chelsey Anderson and Amy Carey shared the Most Spirited award.

Jessica Bergquist and Jensen earned attendance awards and Jensen the "beam stick" award.

Jensen's 9.0375 average score on the vault earned the senior a spot on the All-State honorable mention team. Carey was All-State honorable mention on the floor exercise (8.80416 average) and Alyshia Moe also was All-State honorable mention on the vault (8.88333 average).

Moe and Jensen also were given team awards by bettering 9.0 on the vault during the season. Jensen also had the team's top individual score on the vault, bars and beam while Carey had the best score on the floor exercise.

Earning letters for the 2011-12 BHS gymnastics team were:

Seniors: Brooke Beck, Jessica Bergquist, Chelsey Anderson;

Junior: Alyshia Moe;

Sophomore: Sara Erickson;

Freshmen: Brittney Beck, Amy Carey.
