The Bemidji volleyball team beat East Grand Forks 3-0 Tuesday at Bemidji High School.

The game scores were 25-14, 25-15, and 25-21.

"They gave a great effort," Bemidji head coach Teresa Colligan said. "We tried a new rotation, so there was some miscommunication but we worked through it."

Jessica Yost led the Lum-berjacks with 15 digs, ten kills and three blocks.

Bemidji jumped ahead to a 21-7 lead in Game 1 after scoring seven straight points with Yost serving.

Yost ended the first game with two consecutive kills giving the Lumberjacks a 25-14 win. Allie Heifort had five of her nine kills in the match in Game 1.

"It is really nice to almost always have two big six-foot girls in front at the same time," said Colligan. It really throws off the other team."

Following a pair of aces from Jasmin Yerbich, Bemid-ji led the second game 19-11.

Blake Bardwell pounded back-to-back kills to end Game 2.

Bardwell recorded six kills and two blocks in the match.

East Grand Forks jumped ahead to an early 7-0 lead in the third game but Bemidji stormed back.

"We know we can do it," said Colligan. "For the girls to be able to believe in them-selves is nice."

Kellie Morehouse's kill was the beginning of a stretch in which the Lumberjacks out-scored the Green Wave 10-1.

Morehouse finished with five kills on the night.

The Lumberjacks and Green Wave traded leads until Nicole McDonald's kill gave Bemidji a 23-20 edge.

McDonald tied for the team lead with two aces.

After a timeout and a kill from Yost, Courtney Black delivered an ace to seal the 25-21 win.

Jenna Sagedahl finished with a team-high 18 assists.

Myria Colley followed with ten and added two blocks.

Aubrie Carlstrom led the Green Wave with four kills and two aces. Karly Nelson also had four kills for EGF.

Bemidji will play at the St. Michael Invitational this weekend.
