Jenna Truedson captured first place and Kim Truedson claimed second at Friday's cross country meet hosted by the Bemidji State University track and field program at Greenwood Golf Course.

Jenna, a freshman, completed the 4-km course in 15:50.22. Kim, a senior, took second in 16:12.32. Friday's result was the second time in as many meets that the Truedson sisters have placed 1-2 in the girls varsity division.

The Lumberjacks finished third in the four-team meet with 49 points. Brainerd and Grand Rapids tied for first with 40 points but Brainerd was awarded the top spot in a tie-breaker. Trek North was fourth with 106.

BHS placed six of its runners in the top 11 to win the boys varsity meet with 37 points. Once again, Brainerd and Grand Rapids tied, this time for second with 52 points. Bagley-Fosston, behind the second-place effort of Wesley Davies who completed the 5-km run in 17:55.29, scored 99 points for fourth.

Nicole Erdman was Bemidji's third runner to cross the line as she was 14th overall in 17:50.65. Completing the Lumberjacks scoring were Dani Gronhovd who was 17th in 17:55.71 and Kayla Olson who was 19th in 18:09.38.

"Jenna and Kim ran very well and our pack of runners who finished third through seventh for us was solid," said BHS coach Ryan Aylesworth. "I'm pleased with the overall performance.

"Jenna and Kim will be among the leaders in every race this season and it appears that our pack will be in the middle," the coach continued. "Our team results will be determined by where our pack finishes - in the front middle, middle or back middle."

Sarah Hamrin led Trek North as the eighth grader was 10th in 17:24.00. Madeline Treuer finished 24th (18:43.83), Hannah Lash 36th (198:39.58), Madeline Hawkins 37th (18:40.26) and Kaija Roy 41st (20:41.31).
