Bemidji HS gymnastics: Jensen leads Jacks to win at Detroit Lakes

Katie Jensen captured the all-around with a 33.55 and Jessica Bergquist was second with 32.9 to lead the Bemidji gymnastics team to a 130.40-120.70 victory over Detroit Lakes Saturday at the Gym Bin.

"The kids pulled through nicely," said BHS coach Don Papreck. "Detroit Lakes didn't bring its full varsity team because it competed Friday night at Perham but we competed well and it was a nice win."

Lumberjacks Alyshia Moe and Brooke Beck tied for third place in the all-around with scores of 31.8.

BHS swept the top four spots in the vault and Jensen set the pace with 8.75. She also won the bars with 8.15 and the beam with 8.15.

Moe was second on the beam with 8.0 as was Bergquist on the floor (8.7).

Saturday's meet was the final regular-season competition for the Lumberjacks. They return to action Feb. 18 at the Section 8AA meet in Brainerd.

"Between now and the section meet we'll work on improving our routines, especially the beam and the bars," Papreck said.
