Bemidji High School gymnasts defeat Park Rapids in season opener
Katie Jensen scored 32.20 in the All-Around to lead the gym team to a 126-97.85 victory over Park Rapids Friday at the Gym Bin.
Jenson captured the vault in 8.750 and was second in the bars (7.65), balance beam (7.550) and floor exercise (8.25).
Teammate Jessica Berquist set the pace on the beam with a score of 8.650 and Lumberjack Brooke Beck won the floor with a score of 8.4.
Kayla Johnk of Park Rapids took the bars with a 7.70 score.
"It was a good start to the year," said BHS coach Don Papreck. "Friday's goal was to be in the mid-120s and I'm very satisfied with 126. I thought we looked better than we have at any practice."
Bemidji will return to the Gym Bin today when it hosts Fargo North and Fargo South. The junior varsity teams will compete at 1 p.m. and the varsity squads will follow.
