Bemidji hosts section swim meet this weekend

The Bemidji swimming and diving team will host the Section 8A meet beginning with the diving preliminaries at noon on Friday.

The event will conclude with the crowning of the section team and individual qualifiers for the state meet Saturday afternoon.

Joining the Lumberjacks will be Fosston-Bagley, defending champion Park Rapids, Crookston, Perham-New York Mills, Warroad-Roseau-BGMR, Fergus Falls, Detroit Lakes and Thief River Falls.

The rosters have been submitted to section officials and Bemidji's Steph Frey is seeded first in the 200 free and 100 breaststroke.

BHS is seeded second in the 400 free relay and the 200 free relay as is Lexie Hendricks in the 500 free.

Also seeded in the top-10 is the 200 medley relay unit (fifth). Laura Yourd and Hendricks are ranked seventh and ninth in the 200 free while Erin Arndt is rated eighth in the 200 IM.

Maris Jahner holds the sixth seed in the 50 free and in diving Jana Hedrstrom is rated eighth and Hailey Erickson 10th.

Jamie Vanasse and Arndt are eighth and 10th in the 100 fly while Jahner and Yourd are eighth and ninth in the 100 free.

Vanasse holds the eighth spot in the 500 free and Alicia Papake-Larson is 10th in the 100 back.

Danielle Hoven is seventh in the 100 breast stroke and Kenzie Timms is ninth in the same event.

Bagley-Fosston's top seeds include McKenzie Manecke in the 200 free (18th) and 500 free (19th), Amy Mireault in the 50 free (13th), Olivia Hames in the 200 IM (13th) and the 100 back (15th), Eliza Papke in the 100 fly (fourth), Lynsey Bardwell in the 100 free (fourth), the 200 free relay team (fifth), Veronica Lee in the 100 back (14th) and the 400 free relay team (seventh).
