Bemidji HS girls tennis: Jacks advance to semis

The Bemidji girls tennis team began sub-section play Tuesday, rolling into the section semifinals with a pair of one sided wins.

Seeded second, Bemidji blanked seventh ranked Fergus Falls 7-0, then followed with a 5-2 win over third ranked Alexandria. Alex opened with a 6-1 win over Detroit Lakes.

Brainerd will join Bemidji in Monday's section team event at Sartell. The Warriors blanked Moorhead 7-0 after the Spuds ousted Little Falls 6-1.

Monday will match Bemidji against the south's top seed, St. Cloud Tech and Brainerd against the No. .2 seed Monticello.

The sub-section individual tournament opens today with Jamie Hoffman and Emma Nielsen in singles and the doubles tandems of the Solberg and Kane sisters.

Bemidji waltzed past Fergus with no Otter scoring more than three points. Bemidji also won a pair of 6-4 sets in an exhibition doubles match.

Hoffman at No. 1 singles and the No. 1 doubles unit of Kenzie Kane and Jess Solberg also won 6-0, 6-0.

Bemidji swept all three doubles against the Cardinals after splitting its four singles.
