GIRLS HOCKEY: Bemidji rallies for 1-1 tie with River Lakes

RICHMOND — Rachael Holm scored with 1:40 to play in regulation to tie the game at 1-1 and the Bemidji girls hockey team settled for the 1-1 draw Friday at River Lakes.

Friday’s tie extended Bemidji’s unbeaten streak to six games and the Lumberjacks are 4-0-2 during that span.

Prior to Friday’s contest BHS (8-10-4) was seeded sixth in the section playoffs, as judged by the QRF ratings, and River Lakes (12-9-1) was seventh.

The home team took a 1-0 lead 11:16 into Friday’s game when Ellie Anderson connected while River Lakes was on the power play.

The 1-0 score stood until BHS pulled goalie Leighton Rockensock late in regulation and Holm scored after crashing the net while the Lumberjacks had the extra attacker.

Madison Schultz and Jacie Lalli assisted on the goal.

Rockensock finished with 15 saves while Bemidji sent 29 shots on the River Lakes net.

BHS will close its regular season 5 p.m. Monday at Moorhead. The Section 8-2A playoffs begin next week.
