BOYS HOCKEY: Spuds topple Bemidji in OT again

MOORHEAD — Once again, a Bemidji-Moorhead hockey game went to overtime.

This time, Aaron Herdt’s score 5 minutes, 49 seconds into the extra frame capped Moorhead’s comeback victory.

Bemidji (7-8) scored the first two goals of the game, both on the power play.

Cole Hartje got the Lumberjacks on the board first at the 9:56 mark of the first with assists from Erik Fitzgerald and Seth Neubeck.

Brett Isense made it 2-0 in the second with a score at 6:36, assisted by Nick Leitner.

But the Spuds (8-7) roared back, scoring the next two goals to tie it.

Grant Weiss scored at 9:32 and Addison Hardy at 12:59 to complete the comeback.

After a scoreless third period it was Moorhead who prevailed on Herdt’s game-winner.

“We played a very solid game,” BHS head coach Wade Chiodo said. “We just ran out of gas. We made a few mistakes in the overtime and they capitalized on them.”

Garrett Atteberry made 25 saves for the Lumberjacks while Jacob Dittner made 22 for the Spuds.
