BEMIDJI — The Bemidji girls swimming and diving team won eight events overall and used those wins to help defeat rivals Moorhead 106-80 Thursday night at the BHS pool.

Danielle Hoven won four events. She took first in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.77) and 100 butterfly (1:05.90). Hoven was also a member of the 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams.

The 200 relay team featured Hoven, Erin Arndt, Paige Anderson and Madi Knutson and turned in a time of 1:48.87 to win the race.

The 400 relay team had Hoven and Arnst as well as Libby McRae and Morgan Williams. They finished with a final time of 3:56.43.

McRae took first in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:24.28, Mackenzie Ritchie won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:54.84 and Kylei Grosfield won the diving competition, scoring 262.65 points. That beats the BHS school record — which Grosfield had previously set.

In the 200 relay, the Lumberjacks took first place with a time of 2:02.24. Knutson, Anderson, McRae and Williams were all members of that relay.

The Lumberjacks return to the pool Saturday when Bemidji will host the section 8A True Team meet. Other teams in the section include Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Park Rapids, Thief River Falls and Crookston.
