BOYS HOCKEY: Bemidji receives No. 6 seed in sections, will face Brainerd
BEMIDJI -- The Bemidji High School boys hockey team received the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 Brainerd in the Section 8AA tournament, it was announced Wednesday after a coaches vote for the seedings.
The Lumberjacks (10-14) will travel to Brainerd for their quarterfinal game with the Warriors (18-6) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20. The game is a rematch of last season’s section quarterfinal which saw Brainerd win 5-4 in overtime. Bemidji has lost both its meetings with the Warriors this season, including a 2-0 defeat in the Jacks’ home opener Nov. 30 and a 6-1 loss Dec. 27 at the Duluth Hilltopper Holiday Classic.
Defending section champion Moorhead received the No. 1 seed and will host No. 8 Rogers. Other quarterfinal matchups include No. 2 St. Michael-Albertville meeting No. 7 Buffalo and No. 4 St. Cloud hosting No. 5 Roseau.
The section semifinals will be held Saturday, Feb. 24, at the higher seed and the title game will be played at a neutral site Wednesday, Feb. 28.
